Grief Quote

Quote

Grief can be so disorienting.
Intellectually we might get it,
they are no longer with us,
but our nervous system and
our body and our heart…
still long for the safety of
what was.

~ Gina Moffa

Grief isn’t just emotional – it’s also physical. When we lose someone we love, our entire nervous system responds. You may feel irritable, overwhelmed, exhausted, restless, numb or unable to make decisions. It’s your nervous system working to process profound loss.

* Allow Yourself to Rest.
Rest is not doing nothing; it’s allowing your body and mind the time and space to heal.

* Honor Your Needs.
Check in with yourself frequently to understand what your changing needs are in this new reality.

* Connect with Safe People.
Being with others who understand your grief can help co-regulate your nervous system.

* Be Gentle and Kind to Yourself.
You are in a state of transition, not broken. Give yourself grace and compassion and remember there is not right or wrong way to grieve.
