Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Season of Lent, the 40 day period of prayer and fasting leading up to Easter.

Ash Wednesday is a reminder of our own mortality, with ashes placed on our forehead with the words ‘for dust you are and to dust you will return.’
~ Genesis 3:19

Ash Wednesday is also about hope. God takes our dust and transforms us into a new creation, new being and living life new. ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.’
~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

Ash Wednesday is a solemn occasion to pause and focus on grief, mortality, repentance and mourning. By observing Ash Wednesday, we can collectively begin to mourn our losses drawing us closer to God who is near to the brokenhearted. Take comfort that our God does not abandon us in our suffering but instead He draws near to us with compassion.

Ash Wednesday is a time of meditation.

✝ A mediation of loss.
✝ A mediation of love.
✝ A mediation of faith.

Wishing you a peace-filled and blessed Lent and Easter season as we come together in prayer with and for one another during this holy season.
