Birds of a Feather
A Children’s Story of Love, Loss, and
What Came Next
by Tom Crice

A lovely written book of sorrow and remembrance. This is a bittersweet story of a young boy who is struggling with his emotions after losing his grandfather, his very best friend.

The boy said, “Some days I wasn’t sad at all. I was angry. Pop had gone away without me and he hadn’t even said why or goodbye.” A genuine and relatable expression of grief as many people may feel this way but don’t give themselves permission to express their feelings.

Birds of a Father is a thoughtful story of loss and renewal of a young boy’s life. This book gently explains how grief can change over time and how we can even find connections to our lost loved ones in the most random of places. It is a meaningful, loving book that connects boy and nature and that gives way to the beauty of life without disregarding the pain of deeply felt loss.

I recommend this heartfelt children’s story, with themes of life, loss and love for a child and adult alike who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
