Grief in September
seasonal grief
Grief in September can be intensified by seasonal shifts, the end of summer, the return to school routines, shorter days, all of which can activate memories and feelings of loss.
Seasonal grief is when the changing seasons, with their associated traditions, memories and even weather, activate or intensify feelings of loss and grief of a loved one or significant life event.
In essence, the changing seasons provide a constant, cyclical reminder of the passage of time, the loss of the person you love and the changes in your own life.
How to Cope with Seasonal Grief…
🍂 Self-Care: prioritize your own well-being, be kind to yourself, self-compassion and allow yourself to feel the emotions that arise.
🍂 Connect with Others: share your experiences with trusted friends and family members who can offer support and understanding.
🍂 Be Compassionate: recognize that your grief experience is unique and deeply personal, it will always be a part of your life and practice patience and compassion on your journey.
🍂 Create New Traditions: discover ways to honor your loved one in a way that feels meaningful to you, while also creating new traditions that resonate with you.
