Grief & Loss

Grief & Loss

Anniversaries,
Birthdays,
Holidays

Navigating grief, especially around anniversaries, birthdays, holidays and other important dates after a loss can be incredibly challenging. It’s important to allow yourself to feel what you feel and to find ways to honor your loved one’s memory while also prioritizing your own well-being.

01. Allow Your Emotions

Grief is a natural, complex and personal response to loss. Allowing yourself to feel and express your emotions is a healthy way to cope. It’s okay to feel a range of emotions. Acknowledge and process your emotions without judgment. There’s no right or wrong way to grieve.

02. Honor Your Loved One

Find a way to mark their birthday that feels meaningful to you. Invite friends and family to celebrate their life and share memories. Plant a tree, a small garden in their honor. Donate to a cause that is meaningful to you in remembrance of your loved one.

03. Focus on Self-Care

Embrace self-compassion that brings you peace and comfort. Be gentle, kind and understanding towards yourself. Engage in activities that help you stay present, such as meditation, prayer and spending time in nature. Take as much time as you need.

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” ~ Winnie the Pooh
