Grief Reminders
You are the expert of your grief and the author of your journey through loss.
Grief evolves at its own pace and cannot be hurried. There is no right way to grieve. There is no one way to grieve. You do not get over grief. You live with grief.
Grief belongs to the griever. Grief is a very personal experience and belongs entirely to the person experiencing it. Each person’s grief is as unique as their fingerprint.
Grief is a process that takes as long as it takes. The concept of ‘getting over’ the loss of a loved one is a myth. The pain softens from the unbearable anguish but the loss is forever and so the grief is forever.
Grief can be a traumatic experience that makes you question your own emotions and sense of normalcy. It is very normal to feel several emotions in one day or even within hours. Grief is a shock to your system and all of these emotions must be allowed and felt.
Please remember when our friends and family members are grieving they didn’t ask for this, want this or plan for this. Tragedy and heartbreak can and does occur at anytime. For what they knew is now what they know. Meet them where they are, be gentle and compassionate. Support them and love them.
Grief is a journey. To heal from grief, you must go through grief. You can’t heal what you don’t feel. You cannot go around it, over it, under it. You must go through it. The grieving process is a healing process. Each step you take is part of your healing.
How do you allow yourself to grieve?
* Be kind to yourself.
* Give yourself grace, space and permission to grieve.
* Schedule something that brings you joy.
* Be gentle with you.
* Communicated what you do and do not need.
A part of you will forever be sad. And that’s ok. You will always hold a special place in your heart forever and that’s because you had an immense amount of love for your loved one.🖤
