Monday Morning Prayer

Monday Morning Prayer

Jesus wept.

John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the entire Bible and it reads, “Jesus wept.”

This moment speaks to His humanity, and His ability to sympathize with our pain and suffering. Jesus grieved, experienced sorrow, and felt the weight of loss when He went to the tomb of of his friend, Lazarus. Jesus, the man who loved and lost, who felt acutely the pain of grief weeps with us.

This shows us it is okay to feel sad when a loved one dies or when we have experienced loss. There will be tears, but Jesus understands and is there to provide comfort and hope.

Sometimes we are tempted to hold back our tears but weeping is profoundly human and profoundly healing. Weeping can be a holy moment.
