Monday Prayers
Praise be to the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those in any
trouble with the comfort we ourselves
receive from God. For just as we share
abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so
also our comfort abounds through Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5
2 Corinthians 1 is a chapter in which the word comfort appears 10 times in 5 verses. It means to call alongside, to exhort, encourage, strengthen, console, or comfort.
As we look around, this world is full of pain, full of sorrow, grief and loss. We pray for comfort that will carry us through the grief, sustain us through the pain and bring comfort to the hurting.
Heavenly Father, thank you for Your grace and mercy. Thank you for all the comfort that You have bestowed on us. I pray that I am able to be Christ’s hand to help, Christ’s ears to listen, Christ’s arms to hold and Christ’s voice to speak a word of comfort into the hearts of all who are suffering and are in any kind of affliction.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
