Grieving During the Holidays

For many, this year was the first Thanksgiving without your loved one at the Thanksgiving table. It will be the first without your loved one celebrating your Hanukkah & Christmas traditions. Amidst all the festivities, there may be sadness, loneliness and suffering. It will be important to create some different but special traditions that includes the memory of your loved one in the holiday festivities.

* Say a prayer. Begin your holiday meal with a prayer, thanking God for the life of your loved one and asking for comfort through this holiday season.

* Remembering your loved one by remembering some of their favorite things. Donate to their special charity. Use your loved one’s old recipe to make their favorite meal.

* Make a holiday wreath with some of their favorite ornaments, colors or design that reminds you of your loved one.

* Create a memorial candle. Light is a comforting way to remember our loved ones who have gone before us.

The holidays are one of the hardest times of the year to be without your loved one.
My heartfelt prayers are with all who are grieving this holiday season. May you find comfort, peace and hope.

Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
