Thursday Thoughts

“We’re Out of Time”

Four words. We’re out of time.

The final words spoken by the co-pilot to air traffic controllers before the devastating plane crash that claimed nine lives.

I have found myself reflecting on those four words.

None of us truly knows how much time we have or how many simple, everyday moments we have to experience. There is something so tender about the ordinary moments of life, and something so fragile about the time we are given.

We can spend so much time worrying about tomorrow, holding on to yesterday, and rushing through today that we forget to notice the quiet beauty in the moments that seem ordinary but are, in their own way, everything.

Another embrace.

Another moment together.

Another chance to say, I love you.

Time is not something we can hold onto. It is something we are given. It is a gift.

Time is a gift.

When you lose someone you love, you know all too well that time doesn’t always give us the goodbye we hoped for.

There may be words left unsaid, moments you would give anything to have again, and a longing that no amount of time seems to quiet.

Perhaps one way we honor the preciousness of life is by living with a little more intention, compassion, presence, and love.

My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of the nine people who perished in this devastating crash. My deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with all those mourning these precious lives.

And to those who are carrying your own grief today, I am holding space for you, too.

Life is precious.

Time is sacred.

Love matters.

We don’t know how much time we have, but we can choose to be a little more present with the time we are given.
