Understanding that it’s ok for a person to be sad –

1- Sadness is healthy.

2- Telling someone they shouldn’t be sad, that their person wouldn’t want them to be sad,

3- or trying to cheer them up,

4- only tells them that they cannot be honest with you about how they’re feeling.
