We Don’t ‘Get Over’ A Significant Loss

We don’t ‘get over’ a significant loss.

💫 Grief is a process, not an event.

💫 Grief becomes part of who we are.

💫 Grief becomes a part of how we love.

💫 Grief helps connect us to memories of the past.

💫 Grief evolves, changes and stays with us forever.

💫 Grief provides perspective and resilience in the most difficult of times.

There’s no ‘getting over’ a significant loss. Time alone doesn’t take away our grief. Grief cracks something open inside of us that doesn’t heal neatly or close back up all the way. Life after loss is about learning to live with the gap left behind. It’s about carrying them with us in everything we do, in the choices we make, in the memories we keep forever in our heart.
