December Self-Care Sunday

December Self-Care Sunday

December is a painful time for many people who are missing a loved one. Your heart may be heavy whether this is your first holiday without your loved one or if you’ve been grieving for many years.

💚 spend time outside…
There is something about nature that is therapeutic. The idea of being connected to something bigger than yourself can be comforting at a time of loss.

💚 take comfort in your memories…
There are many ways to remember your loved one during the holidays. Light a candle in their memory, display photos, hang an ornament or stocking with their name on it, raise your glass in a toast, attend a remembrance ceremony.

💚 give yourself time to rest…
Acknowledge you have been through a painful time and may still have challenging days ahead. Give yourself time to adjust to your loss. Be patient and mindful of what you truly need.

💚 make time for you…
Give yourself the gentleness and love you deserve. Speak kindly to yourself. Allow yourself time; time to reflect, time to grieve and time to heal.

💚 slow down…
Take one day at a time. Whether you find comfort in old holiday traditions or decide to start new ones, take this holiday one day at time.

💚 it’s okay not to feel “merry & bright”…
Feel what you need to feel. It’s okay that you are not feeling merry and bright. Allow yourself to feel joy, sadness…allow yourself to feel what you feel and grieve.
