Nothing in this life
can prepare us for
losing someone we love…
Nothing
The pain is profound
and feels unbearable,
a gaping void that words
can hardly begin to describe
We find ourselves
struggling with the reality
of their absence
Each day brings a
new wave of emotions
sadness, anger, longing
and sometimes
a feeling of acceptance
During these times it’s
important to allow
ourselves to grieve
in our own way and
at our own pace
Slowly we learn to carry
the weight of our loss
with a bit more ease
Healing is not about
forgetting but about
finding a way to
live with the loss
Over time we find
strength we never had,
and a renewed appreciation
for not only the beauty of life,
but for how fragile it is
Though the ache may
never fully disappear,
we find ways to
honor their memory
and continue living,
not just for ourselves,
but for them
In the end,
the love we carry
with us becomes a
testament to the bond
that can never be broken,
even after great loss
Until we meet again…
