Monday Morning Prayer
A Prayer for a Grieving World
Eternal God, we come to You with heavy hearts, grieving the lives lost to senseless violence, to hatred, murder and assassination. We lift up the families, friends and communities shattered by this darkness.
In our sorrow, we remember the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness;
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate;
only love can do that.”
Heavenly Father, shine the light of Your presence on those who mourn. Bind up the wounds caused by hate with Your healing love. Let hope and justice rise and break through the shadows.
Even as we walk through the valley of death, we trust that You are with us. Help us carry the torch of love. Help us be instruments of peace. Help us overcome darkness together. Hold this grieving world in Your everlasting arms. May Your light shine in the deepest night.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
