Monday Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 6:9-13

The Lord’s Prayer is the prayer that Jesus taught when the disciples asked, “How should we pray?” He tells us not to pray for the sake of impressing others and not to be repetitive. Our prayers do not need to be lengthy or extravagant to be effective. The Lord’s Prayer is actually quite short. Jesus tells us to pray with fewer words and more intimacy.

* Start with praise & worship…
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name.”

* Pray God’s will be done…
“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

* Pray for your needs…
“Give us this day our daily bread.”

* Confess sin & ask for forgiveness…
“And forgive us our trespasses.”

* Ask for help forgiving others…
“As we forgive those who trespass against us.”

* Pray for safety, protection & deliverance…
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

The Lord’s Prayer is not just meant to be prayed but it’s meant to be lived. May we pray and live the Lord’s Prayer with deep faith, wholehearted worship, love for one another and desiring God’s will above our own.
